  NAMC REHABILITATION THERAPIES

ORTHOPEDIC SURGERY REHABILITATION

INITIAL CONSULTATION: Is included in pre and post operative visits. We will outline all restrictions and exercises to be performed at home prior to treadmill sessions.

PLEASE NOTE If your pet's surgery was done at another hospital there will be an initial consultation fee.

FOLLOW-UP SESSIONS: Generally we will begin 4-5 weeks after surgery and will take into considerations the surgery that was performed and the individual pet's rate of recovery. 2-3 sessions a week will be the standard recommendation and can be continued as long as the patient and client wish or as goals are reached.

                                                        OBESITY & WEIGHT CONTROL

INITIAL CONSULTATION: The initial consultation will include a complete physical exam, body scoring, weight loss goal, daily caloric requirement to achieve goal, supplement options, home exercise plan, and food recommendations.

FOLLOW-UP SESSIONS:  2-3 TIMES PER WEEK: Early sessions on the treadmill may be brief, depending on the pet's cardiovascular condition. If the pet is in poor physical shape we may have to slowly build up endurance and time on the treadmill. In order to give your pet the most of each session, massage therapy or ball exercises may be used until longer treadmill sessions are an option.

HEALTHY CONDITIONING

Field trial, agility , hunting dogs...come one, come all. All across the US and other countries, dogs are using underwater treadmills to get the upper hand on the competition.. Prior to, and during the competitive season, dogs and their handlers can take advantage of our physical therapy center and reach new goals. Hunting dogs are expected to perform after months of  little or no conditioning. Without conditioning these dogs are very susceptible to injuries that can keep them out of the field for months or even years.

INITIAL CONSULTATION: This will include a comprehensive physical exam, body condition scoring and health history overview. We will develop a home exercise plan and discuss diet and supplement recommend-ations. Competition goal setting will also be available at the owners request.

FOLLOW-UP SESSIONS: 2-3 TIMES/WEEK: These will vary. Each session will include treadmill time and other exercises depending on the patient.

  OSTEOARTHRITIS

INITIAL CONSULTATION: The consultation includes a complete physical exam, body condition scoring, diet and supplement recommendation, necessary medications, and a detailed regimen for home and in hospital exercises.

FOLLOW-UP SESSIONS:  2-3 TIMES/WEEK: We will again start with treadmill session times according to the pet's cardiovascular health. If sessions are short, the remaining time will be spent on the therapy ball and doing massage or other activities.
